Once again we've got a special event coming up; one that will warm you up before the weather gets cold! Jerry Johansen, a local historian and the author of Concession Street: In Context, will be leading a wonderful historical tour along the mountain brow at sunset on Thursday, October 1st. We will be meeting at 7pm in Sam Lawrence Park by the flagpoles (on the West side of Upper Wellington/the Jolly Cut).
Jerry Johansen will also be available to sign copies of his book, Concession Street: In Context, after the historical tour, should you wish to join.
I'd love to see everyone come out for this final hurrah, so please feel free to contact me via email (email@example.com) or by phone (905-549-0900) if you would like to attend, or if you have any questions/comments.

There's a new initiative starting up, as part of the Concession Street Walks Project. Next week, August 9th-15th, will mark the first week of "Weekly Walks at Lunch", an initiative that focuses on getting people up, out, and active during their lunch hour. The following information is being sent out to all JCC and HSC employees:
Weekly Walks at Lunch:
Do you like walking? The outdoors? Social environments? To go along with the Concession Street Walks project, Environment Hamilton will be hosting special lunchtime walks twice a week for those at the Juravinski Cancer Center and the Henderson Hospital. Concession Street Walks is an Environment Hamilton project that aims to encourage sustainable transportation (walking, biking, public transit) and improve the walkability of neighbourhoods around Concession Street.
Weekly Walks at Lunch is meant to provide individuals an opportunity to get up, get out, and get active during lunchtime. The luncheon walks are free of charge, and there will be giveaways for those who come out. Come out to enjoy the fresh air, the summer sun, and to get active! Any and all are welcome to join. Pack a lunch, enjoy a midday walk, and eat amongst friends. You can also check out the Concession Street Walks project webpage for more information: http://www.environmenthamilton.org/view/page/concession_street_walks
Those interested are asked to please contact
Alessandra at 905-549-0900, or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org
...as mentioned, if you're interested or know anyone who might be, please spread the word & have them contact me :)

There are a number of ways in which we hope to reach this goal, some of which include holding special walking tours, bike hikes, information sessions, and handing out free giveaways for those who commit themselves to taking the Walk There Challenge!
Events will also be posted on the Concession Street Walks Project Page.
