Historical Tour with Jerry Johansen

Hello folks!

Once again we've got a special event coming up; one that will warm you up before the weather gets cold! Jerry Johansen, a local historian and the author of Concession Street: In Context, will be leading a wonderful historical tour along the mountain brow at sunset on Thursday, October 1st. We will be meeting at 7pm in Sam Lawrence Park by the flagpoles (on the West side of Upper Wellington/the Jolly Cut).

Jerry Johansen will also be available to sign copies of his book, Concession Street: In Context, after the historical tour, should you wish to join.

I'd love to see everyone come out for this final hurrah, so please feel free to contact me via email (concessionwalks@environmenthamilton.org) or by phone (905-549-0900) if you would like to attend, or if you have any questions/comments.

Date: Thursday, October 1st
Time: 7:00pm

Greetings!

Welcome to the official blog for Concession Street Walks, an Environment Hamilton project.

On this blog you will be able to find information regarding our project goals, special events, the Walk There Challenge, and much much more!

So... what is Concession Street Walks all about?

Concession Street Walks is a project meant to encourage residents to reduce their carbon footprint and increase the number of people using sustainable transportation (walking, biking, public transit).

There are a number of ways in which we hope to reach this goal, some of which include holding special walking tours, bike hikes, information sessions, and handing out free giveaways for those who commit themselves to taking the Walk There Challenge!

Our next upcoming event is the Evening Hike with Richard Reble on Thursday, August 13th, at 7pm. The hike will run for about 1.5-2 hours, and will be meeting at the top of the Wentworth Stairs. We will follow the Bruce Trail eastbound for a wonderful view of Hamilton from the escarpment. If you like the fresh outdoors and enjoy seeing the setting sun, then come to join us on this wonderful trail hike! Please come with good walking shoes and a bottle of water. For more information, please contact Alessandra at 905-549-0900 or mailto:concessionwalks@environmenthamilton.org.

Events will also be posted on the Concession Street Walks Project Page.
